2022 Journal # 1 My Packed Lunch for 3rd and 4th week of March

While I was writing this, it’s 3:25AM

I want to share to you what I packed for lunch for two weeks now!

But story first…
Yesterday, I slept at 7:00 PM and today, I woke up at 1:00 AM. Good thing I was able to wake up at that time, because my mother need assistance, as she suffered hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) at this hour of the night, almost daily. She was really feeling and looking weak during her hypoglycemic episodes. And there were really sleepless nights for the both of us.
That’s also the reason why I always brought for her extra food from our office cafeteria because she had to have food instantly. Take note, our office cafeteria food is yummy, almost home-cooked, and there’s a nutritionist as well, in one. Sometimes, I also order for her, her favorite salmon belly in Dampa. And of course, Grab Food.
As much as possible, I don’t want her to get too tired with preparing and cooking meals. She was persistent as she loves cooking, going to palengke, preparing Filipino meals, but I have to say no. ‘Cos she, now turning 68 this year, and with long-term comorbidity must be more careful now. She can’t be too tired now. Or she’ll feel the pain outright, with her lungs and her head.
Recently, my mother also suffered episodes again of shortness of breath and dizziness (possibly due to Vertigo)
She got maintenance meds also, in treating her kidney, heart failure, diabetes, and cholesterol. That’s 4 insulin injection daily, and more than 10 tabs a day. Just imagine her pain with injection daily, she injecting on the subcutaneous area on her stomach or arms, and her daily blood sugar check, pricking her thumb daily, as well.
Will have to get her checkup and labs again, just to be sure.
Every night and early morning, I would always read health books on my Playbook. This habit, started when my late daddy

suffered stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease (2019) and half paralysis due to Stroke (2012-2019). My late daddy would have been age 74 now. While I accompany him before in the hospital (2018 and 2019), I kept on researching and researching for possible means (and miracle). But I knew it was all too late now ‘cos as told by the doctor : when your dad got hit by stroke, your dad has only a few years to live. Your dad was lucky to have survive long years then.

They say, eat all you want, ‘cos you’ll be dead in the end, anyways *knocks on wood* But that’s a bad advice. For me, we got no power over death and terminal illness, but we should make the most possible effort to focus on what we can control and prevent right now. For me, we still have control over our food.
Recently, I also prepare my lunch (as well as dinner) for two weeks now

But if you asked me why I always book Grab Food for my food before? That’s because, I’m always experimenting. But more often, I would choose the healthy stuff, green tea, salmon, etc. I’m a spender. I’m very picky. But I calculate everything. And research on everything. ‘Cos what’s medicine for us, may be poison for others.

Health is truly wealth.
And time is short.
Here are the food pictures of my lunch (and dinner) for two weeks! Pictures are almost the same, because I’ve been just documenting daily.

It’s been a while since I last post here in this blog. We’re now back in the office. And no more work-from-home setup. I go to the office at around 9AM – 6PM. Mornings are important for me, as I need to check my mom first, and I need to check myself first, as well. Mornings are like the only time I got for myself. I had the 6PM to 10PM, yes, but I’m already sleepy by that time. You know, to be able to write and journal again means having to spend early mornings or late nights. And today is the day that I woke up early at around 1AM. And I was able to write again.
Thank you for reading! It means a lot to me. My dream is still in art and writing. But I wasn’t able to practice as often and as much. So this little hobby time is heaven-sent!
